Back acne is a common condition that usually happens because of wrong practices in our body care routine.
Did you know that body acne can be caused by hair products? They mostly contain ingredients that can clog your pores and cause pimples; they also may contain a relatively higher percentage of fragrance than skin care and body care products which may irritate your skin and cause breakouts.
Here are five easy in-shower tips to help avoid and relief your acne:
Hair Care First
Shampoo and condition your hair first thing in the shower before washing your body. Conditioner has strong conditioning ingredients that might clog your pores and cause acne. Make sure to rinse it off properly.
Body Care Second
After applying and rinsing off your in-shower hair products, cleanse your body, focusing on your back, with a gentle body wash and a natural loofah to get rid of dirt, sweat, and leftover conditioner. Use a loofah with handle to reach your back and cleanse it. Rinse off the body wash well before stepping out of the shower.
Salicylic Acid Acne Body Wash
Use a salicylic acid body wash if you already have acne on your back. It helps in treating acne and relieving its accompanied pain and itching. Make sure to moisturize well afterwards. If you cannot find a salicylic acid body wash, you can use a salicylic face cleanser instead on targeted areas.
Use a Gentle Towel.
Make sure to dry off your body properly with a gentle towel, cotton or microfiber, before wearing your clothes. Rough towels can cause micro tears in your skin and damage your skin barrier which can cause pimples and hyper pigmentation.
Cover Your Back While Styling Your Hair
Just as we mentioned, hair products may have lots of conditioning ingredients that can clog your pores causing painful pimples. Make sure to cover up your back with a thick towel while applying your hair products and don’t let your wet hair set on your bare back until it’s completely dry.
