We are back with other myths to bust! Are you ready?

Facial oils are not suitable for oily skin

Myth: Facial oils will make your face produce more oils and become even greasier. It can also cause breakouts and clog your pores.

Fact: Some oils are perfect to include in your daily skincare routine if you have oily skin! Oils like jojoba, pumpkin seed oil, and rosehip oils can regulate oil production which works wonders for oily skin. Stay away from comedogenic oils, if you have acne-prone skin which may clog your pores, if not used in moderation.

Essential oils are safer than perfumed skincare products

Myth: Natural essential oils are much safer than artificial fragrances which can irritate sensitive skin. Natural ingredients are much safer chemicals.

Fact: All-natural ingredients are not safer than chemical ingredients. Everything around us, including air, is chemical matter. So, don't let nobody fool you!

Essential oils are very potent volatile fragrant oils that are extracted from various flowers and herbs. These oils contain sensitizers that have dermal limits. If the manufacturing company or DIYs didn't follow these limits, unfortunately, you're most likely to develop severe irritation, and in rare cases, you might develop eczema.

Fragrances/perfumes should also be used in moderation to avoid skin inflammation and dryness.

Peel-off masks are good for your skin

Myth: Peel-off masks and strips are perfect to remove blackheads, whiteheads, excess oils, and impurities. The more it sticks to your face, the more beneficial it is.

Facts: Peel-off masks can be very harsh on your skin, especially when you use force to peel them off of your skin. Some masks are manufactured to produce white/black particles depending on the mask's color to give a false indication of whiteheads/blackheads removal. Most of the time, these masks aren't as effective as they claim. Instead, use some proper ways to get rid of blackheads and whiteheads, like products that contain niacinamide, and gentle cleansers, to name a few.

Silicones are bad for your skin

Myth: Silicone is a bad ingredient that might cause acne, clog your pores, make an impermeable film on your skin that will suffocate it.

Fact: Silicones are one of the most underrated ingredients in skincare! Despite its bad reputation, it can benefit you in many ways! It's an inert permeable ingredient that allows your skin to breathe underneath it. It's non-comedogenic and non-proven to induce acne in any way. In fact, it can blur your pores and fill your fine lines, that's why it's always used in makeup as a primary ingredient.
