Face Cleansing 101: How to Wash your Face

While it might seem like a pretty silly question, it's a brilliant one if you think about it!

Washing your face is the very first step in any face routine. It helps you get rid of the bacteria, dirt, and excess oil to have a clean canvas to apply your favorite skincare products.

Imagine applying a nutrient-dense formula on a face full of bacteria. This is how important this step is in every routine.

Let's divide washing your face into mini-steps:

Face Cleansers

There are plenty of face cleansers on the market that it gets very confusing to which one you should use, and the most important question is: which one would suit your skin type and condition.

Make sure to choose a caring formula with no sulfates and soaps. These ingredients can irritate and dry out your face in the long run.

Humectants like glycerin or, better yet, hyaluronic acid can draw water droplets into your skin, resulting in a high hydration level.

Water

Ever heard the myth about opening your pores with hot water to cleanse your face properly? That's wrong on so many levels and can damage your skin barrier and cause moisture loss!

Lukewarm water is perfect for washing your face. It's not too hot to burn your face neither too cold that can irritate your skin. Rinse your face gently with lukewarm water until water runs clear.

Drying your Face

Dry off your face gently, and don't rub it harshly. This can cause micro-tears in your skin barrier that can result in irritated, inflamed skin. Use a gentle and clean towel to dry your face, and don't forget to wash it regularly.

Wash your face twice a day only.
